Traffic-Rated Concrete Overlay
Fiber-Reinforced Heavy-Duty Concrete Surface Repair
Durável TRO is a heavy-duty traffic-rated concrete overlay system engineered to restore broom-finished texture to worn concrete and repair spalls and salt damage. The nearly invisible fiber reinforcement in the mix significantly increases flexural strength and tensile strength. Duravel TRO can resurface driveways, sidewalks, commercial entryways, loading docks, and most other concrete surfaces requiring a heavy traffic coating.
Durával TRO™ – Don’t Just Overlay it… Durável It!
The just-add-water mix is self-bonding and cures to over 6,000 PSI. Durával TRO will handle all residential and commercial traffic, including forklifts. Durável TRO is installed on parking lots, parking decks, driveways, sidewalks, commercial entrances, and other exterior and interior horizontal surfaces. The overlay is installed with conventional concrete tools. Finish options include smooth trowel, broom texture, and a range of decorative textures. The single-component bag mixes are available in three formulations: Light Grey, Dark Gray, and White. Durável TRO White may be field tinted to over twenty decorative colors.
Mix single bags in clean 5-gallon pails with a helical mixing blade or use a mortar mixer for multiple loads. Water demand varies with environmental conditions and application, between 5 and 6.5 quarts per bag (4.7 to 6.2 L). For best results and longest pot life, use clean, cold water – run hot water out of hoses prior to using for mixing – and keep bags cool by not storing in direct sun. Measure mix water into the mixing vessel. If applicable, add pigment to the water and thoroughly blend. While mixing, slowly add the bag contents, then mix to a lump-free consistency, being sure to scrape any unmixed product from the sides and bottom of the mixing vessel. Mixed products should be applied promptly. If the product stiffens in the bucket, dispose of the mix, do not add more water.
As a Repair Mortar:
Pre-wet substrate to Saturated Surface Damp (SSD), and continue wetting as needed during product application. Pour out mixed product onto the repair area, then spread with trowels and/or squeegees. Durável TRO may be applied at a thickness of up to 1/4″; use the product in lifts for thicker repairs.
Pre-wet substrate to Saturated Surface Damp (SSD), and continue wetting as needed during product application. Pour out mixed product onto the substrate in ribbons over the immediate work area, then spread evenly with trowels and/or squeegees. Under normal conditions, the mixed product has a +/- thirty-minute pot life, so it is optional to pour out the entire mix at once. The typical coverage rate is 180 square feet per bag per application. Finish the first coat (base coat) smooth. The topcoat may be troweled smooth by hand or power trowel or finished in a broom texture using a concrete (broom) brush.
Keep the substrate dry. Use a hopper gun or compressed air sprayer to apply mixed product to the desired texture. Coverage ranges from 120 to 150 square feet per bag, depending on the texture applied.
NOTE: Do not apply Durável TRO in locations that are permanently submerged.
After applying the first coat smoothly, it is important to decide on the desired finish for the topcoat. This can be achieved either by using a hand trowel to create a smooth surface or by opting for a broom texture using a concrete brush. If you prefer a more textured look, using a broom brush will give the concrete a unique and visually appealing finish.
For those who prefer a quicker and more efficient method, spraying the topcoat is a great option. However, it is crucial to ensure that the substrate remains dry throughout the process. To achieve this, a hopper gun or compressed air sprayer can be used to apply the mixed product evenly and smoothly onto the surface. The coverage of the product can vary between 120 to 150 square feet per bag, depending on the texture desired.
It is important to note that Durável TRO should not be applied in areas that are permanently submerged in water. This heavy-duty traffic-rated broom concrete overlay system is specifically designed to restore texture to worn concrete surfaces and repair any spalls or salt damage that may have occurred over time.
By following these guidelines and using Durável TRO, you can transform your worn concrete into a durable and visually appealing surface that will withstand heavy traffic and the test of time.

Kindly note that your request may be unrelated to the content of the article. However, I we provide you with information about concrete overlays.
A concrete overlay is a thin layer of concrete that is applied over an existing concrete surface to improve its appearance or repair any damage. Here are some common questions about concrete overlays:
1. What is a concrete overlay?
A concrete overlay is a thin layer of concrete that is applied over an existing concrete surface to improve its appearance or repair any damage. It can be used to add texture, color, or pattern to the surface.
2. What are the benefits of using a concrete overlay?
Using a concrete overlay has several benefits, including:
– Cost-effective: It is often more affordable than completely replacing the concrete surface.
– Versatile: Concrete overlays can be customized with different colors, patterns, and textures to achieve the desired look.
– Durability: Concrete overlays are designed to be strong and long-lasting, making them suitable for high-traffic areas.
– Easy maintenance: Concrete overlays are relatively easy to clean and maintain compared to other flooring options.
3. How is a concrete overlay applied?
The application process for a concrete overlay typically involves the following steps:
– Surface preparation: The existing concrete surface is thoroughly cleaned and any cracks or damage are repaired.
– Overlay installation: The concrete overlay is mixed according to the manufacturer’s instructions and applied to the surface using trowels, squeegees, or sprayers.
– Finishing: The overlay is smoothed or textured using tools such as trowels or brushes to achieve the desired look.
4. Can a concrete overlay be applied to any surface?
Concrete overlays can be applied to a variety of surfaces, including driveways, sidewalks, patios, and pool decks. However, it is important to ensure that the existing surface is structurally sound and free of any major cracks or damage before applying the overlay.
5. How long does a concrete overlay last?
The lifespan of a concrete overlay depends on various factors, such as the quality of the materials used, the level of traffic the surface receives, and how well it is maintained. With proper installation and maintenance, a concrete overlay can last for many years.
